iPhone 5 might have a larger screen and 4G LTE compatibility

The iphone 4S has been selling in the millions. But, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t millions of people who are actually quite disappointed or even irked at what the iPhone 4S has to offer. Many were actually quite shocked that Apple would essentially rebrand the iPhone 4 and present it to the iPhone 4S, as both phones had the same exact design. Only the processor and the virtual assistant in Siri, made the iPhone 4S different from the iPhone 4. Though the iPhone 4S has been selling like hot cakes, there are millions of Apple iPhone lovers who are waiting on the iPhone 5, that should hopefully come out in June or October of 2012. In the sections below, we will go over the most important new features that are expected in the iPhone 5.

iPhone 5 – Expected Specs and features

iPhone 5 4G

It is now the 4G generation. Considering that 4G can result in download speeds that are in excess of 28.8Mbps, it has to be said that 3G will soon be left in the dust. So, it is only obvious that Apple will or should include 4G LTE support in the iPhone 5. Some rumors seem to suggest that Apple actually tried to include 4G LTE support in the iPhone 4S although they just couldn’t do so because the LTE chips were just too big for a 3.5 inch iPhone. So, this could essentially mean that the iPhone 5 will get a larger screen. You can read more about the probable iPhone 5 screen size in the passage below.

Will the iPhone 5 screen remain at 3.5 inches or will it be enlarged to a 4 or 4.3 inch screen?

This question is quite a teaser as there are so many things that could affect the screen size of the iPhone 5, apart from the space required to accommodate large LTE chips. For beginners, it is public knowledge that Steve Jobs, the inventory of the iPhone was a ardent fan of the 3.5 inch screen size.Steve Jobs gave utmost importance to the design element of his products and felt that the 3.5 inch screen was just the “perfect” size for a phone. Even just before his death, he expressed his opinion that he still thought that the 3.5 inch screen was the best size for the iPhone, both current and future. Steve Jobs has publicly made statements to the press that he is concerned about the use of large screens on Apple devices as they will result in a compromise on battery life. According to him, the only solution would be to increase the size of the battery although that will call for design modifications that are just not feasible, considering that Apple makes some of the most stylish products that are available in the market today.

The biggest hurdle for Apple to overcome, if it wants to use a larger screen on the iPhone 5 is that it has to figure out a way to keep pixel density at about 336 pixels per square inch (the famous retina display), if the iPhone 5 screen is going to be at least of the same resolution as the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S, both of which have retina display. Since retina display is almost impossible on a 4 inch screen on a 4.5 inch screen, Apple might be forced to keep the iPhone 5 screen size at the same 3.5 inches that have been featured in all the previous 5 generation of iPhone’s.

What will be the release date of the iPhone 5?

Apple has never been a company that has announced the release date of their products at an advance date. Because of this, we can only guesstimate the big release date or launch date for the iPhone 5. There are thousands of people who are expecting to buy the iPhone 5 in just 6 months time, sometime in June or July of 2012. However, the Summer release date is usually reserved for the iPad models. With iPad 3 production and shipping almost finalized, there is very little chance that the iPhone 5 will be launched or released along with the iPad 3. The iPhone 5 is just too popular a product to share a release date with another high profile gadget.

Quite recently, we read some very interesting rumors or assumptions that suggested that the iPhone 5 will be released on the first death anniversary of Steve Jobs, who passed away on October 5, 2011. We definitely think that October 5, 2012 is a real possibility as Apple usually reserves the big product launch for the October month, just in time to allow for enough festive mood shopping.

Other interesting specs that might be included in the iPhone 5

Though the vast majority of iPhone lovers are anticipating a larger screen and 4G LTE speeds, there are also some iPhone fans who want to see a faster processor and a new OS in the iPhone 5, when it does come out. Some industry experts believe that the iPhone 5 is going to feature a revolutionary quad core processor and an IOS6 operating system. But, there are also some who believe that the iPhone 5 will retain the same dual core, A5 processor that has been featured in the iPhone 4S.

If you asked us, we would say that a quad core processor would be quite superfluous for a cell phone like the iPhone 5. No cell phone really needs the power of a quad core processor, at least for the average user. So, it is likely that the iPhone 5 will retain the dual core A5 processor that is featured in the iPhone 4S. Although the iPhone 5′s processor will remain the same as the 4S, we think that the OS will be upgraded to IOS6 that will be able to support extra features such as NFC, 3D camera mode, panoramic camera mode, facial unlocking and wireless data transfer between Apple devices.
